The Librairie Philosophique J. Vrin is a French publishing house of philosophy books. Founded in 1926 by the bookseller Joseph Vrin, out of friendship for the famous historian of philosophy Etienne Gilson, it currently publishes many books mostly devoted to philosophy, but also more broadly to the history of ideas, the human sciences, the epistemology and history of science, the arts, musicology and cinematographic studies. It is also the publisher of periodicals, including reference journals such as the Archives d’Histoire doctrinale et littéraire du Moyen Âge, or the Revue des Sciences Philosophiques et Théologiques.

Many of our books have been translated in many languages throughout the world, and we are proud to represent our recent authors as well as those of all the works in our unique backlist of more than 3,000 titles.
